Sociedade de Gestão Ambiental e Conservação da Natureza — AZORINA, S. A. is a company, 100% owned by Portugal's Autonomous Region of AZORES. AZORINA was created in 2010 and in 2011 ARENA – Agência Regional da Energia e Ambiente da Região Autónoma dos Açores was integrated in AZORINA. In 2012 SPRAçores – Sociedade de Promoção e Gestão Ambiental. S.A. was merged in AZORINA.
AZORINA's main objectives are the promotion of environmental conservation actions and nature and natural resources conservation; Environmental education activities; and implementing Environmental Land Plans. AZORINA substantiates these objectives by the management of the regional network of environmental education infrastructures, certain territories, and implementing all the necessary actions, and projects that contribute to the achievement of the intended results.
