DAFNI is a Greek network of 29 island municipalities and the two regions of the Aegean Sea. Its main objective is the sustainable economic development of these islands taking into account environmental, cultural and social concerns.  It encourages regional development through qualitative tourism, social participation and innovative structures; it supports the use of the islands' renewable energy sources and promotes energy saving practices and the rational application of energy principles, including public procurement; it promotes desalination units combined with renewable energy sources applications and new waste and water management schemes.
